Recovery Scholarship Program

Recovery is about more than leaving addiction behind. It’s about creating a new path forward. At BCRC, we believe education is a powerful part of that path. That’s why we created the Recovery Scholarship Program.
This scholarship helps students in long-term recovery pay for college. By supporting education, we invest in individuals and in the future of Brazoria County.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open to:
- Students enrolled in an accredited college
- Students in recovery who live in Brazoria County and take online classes (with proper documents).
- Alvin Community College students must apply through the college.
Requirements:
- Must be in active recovery.
- GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Completed application with transcript, essay, and references.
What the Scholarship Covers
- Funds are paid directly to the student. They can be used for tuition, books, or fees.
- The scholarship provides financial support to help remove barriers to education and ensure students can focus on their academic and recovery journeys.
How to Apply
You’ll need:
- Completed BCRC Scholarship Application form.
- Recent transcript with GPA shown.
- Three references (letters optional).
- Short essay and a letter sharing your recovery story.
Applications are reviewed by the BCRC Board. Selection is based on grades, community service, recovery commitment, and personal story. Finalists may be invited to share their journey at the Walk for Recovery.
Why This Matters
Most scholarships do not consider people in long-term recovery. We want to change that. Addiction takes a lot, but recovery opens doors. Education is one of the best tools for rebuilding a future.
