About Us
Who We Are
The Brazoria County Recovery Committee (BCRC) was founded in 2018 by Brandye Toombs who saw the need for recovery-focused support and outreach in Brazoria County. Scholarships and resources existed for many groups, but those in long-term recovery were often left out. At the same time, opioid overdoses were claiming more lives. We knew something had to change.
Today, BCRC is a nonprofit that saves lives with Narcan Machines, supports families and those suffering by providing peer support coaching, resources, and invests in the future with education for students in recovery.
Our Vision
We want a Brazoria County where every person in recovery has access to care, education, and support. By investing in recovery, we are building stronger families, safer communities, and a brighter future for all.
Our Mission
We provide sensible, compassionate solutions to the addiction and mental health crisis in Brazoria County. We are committed to:
- Overdose Prevention through Narcan distribution and education.
- Recovery Support through coaching and by connecting people with treatment and peer groups.
- Community Education to break stigma and promote hope.
- Scholarships for recovering students who want higher education.
- Bridging the gap between those needing help and the specialty court systems
- Providing financial resources to those in need
Our Approach

- Events like the Walk for Recovery that raise awareness.
Addiction is not a moral failure. It is a treatable disease. Recovery is possible, and everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their life.

We are a grassroots group of staff, volunteers, and partners. From restocking Narcan, late night support calls to mentoring students, our team works late nights and weekends to make sure no one is forgotten.

Our Impact
Since our start, BCRC has:
- Installed Narcan vending machines across Brazoria County.
- Helped hundreds of people find treatment and recovery resources.
- Helped hundreds of families find support services
- Assisted defendants in reaching out to specialty courts
- Providing financial assistance in emergency situations
- Coaching hundreds of clients in finding programs that fit their needs
- Awarded scholarships to students at Alvin Community College and Brazosport College.
- Hosted the Walk for Recovery to celebrate progress and raise awareness.
The real impact is seen in lives changed. We’ve seen people reconnect with their families, graduate from college, and return to help others.
